Thanksgiving parade gets Rickrolled. Live.

Twitter was all abuzz this morning with the news that the Comedy Central float Rickrolled the country on live television.  In case this is a new one for you, I’ll save you the trip to Wikipedia:

“Rickrolling is an Internet meme typically involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. The meme is a bait and switch: a person provides a Web link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video.”

Let’s go to the videotape!

My favorite part might be the outro where the announcer in his very best announcer-y voice says, “That was Rick Astley singing the Rickrolling phenom “Never Gonna Give You Up.”  Um. Comedy Central using broadcast TV to make internet jokes?  What a feedback loop!

And, not surprisingly, people are already Rickrolling people on YouTube who are searching for the Parade video.  Ahh the internets.
