Let's not beat around the bush.
I saw this store’s sign in Illinois when I was visiting my relatives recently. Of course I immediately wanted to tell two friends about this store…and about Faberge shampoo.

Mad Men Twitter report released today! Read it!
I recently re-joined Twitter. I had joined when it first started but didn’t know, then, what to do with it. It’s like having one of the first fax machines and lots of friends without them…
Even before I re-joined, I had heard a lot about the Mad Men Twitterers. I begain following them on Twitter and loved seeing these Twitterers extend the Mad Men story beyond the screen. I...

Jenny will go!
For years my friends and I have been hoping and praying and willing that the character of Jenny Schecter would get outsted from the L Word (see graphic below as evidence). Seriously, I defy you to find a more thoroughly annoying character on television. Well, it seem that our prayers have been answered! I saw today that they’re actually going to kill Jenny off in the season opener on Jan...

Treet Trends, don’t try to trick us into getting our friends to follow you on Twitter by using the word “Social.” We’re not falling for it.

@wilw @GregGrunberg make plans in 140 characters...
I’ve been following Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman from NBC’s Heroes) and Wil Wheaton (of Stand by Me and Star Trek: The Next Generation) tweeting back and forth on Twitter recently. They were scheming to get Wil to guest star on Heroes (good summary here). First of all, I should say that it’s a strange (yet exciting) feeling to read mini updates or “news feeds” from...

Young Hillary.
The NY Times Politics update just arrived in my inbox. In the article about Hillary Clinton’s “Uncommon Résumé” there’s a photo of her looking really young. I know it’s a picture they’re using to highlight her previous experience…. But it seems like the NY Times would not have published a photo of a male politician looking that young in an article about...

Celebrity "fans" of "No on Prop 8"
If we consider the celebs who appear in this video to be “fans” of “No on Prop 8” then could this (amazing) video be the most star-studded fan vid ever?
(Presuming, that is, that these celeb fans didn’t get paid for their participation).

I'll say it. I'm a Cher fan.
I’ll have more to say about this soon in regards to fan culture (e.g. who is the target market for this…other than me and the gay boys?).
But for now I’ll just say this:
Awesome!!

Thanksgiving parade gets Rickrolled. Live.
Twitter was all abuzz this morning with the news that the Comedy Central float Rickrolled the country on live television. In case this is a new one for you, I’ll save you the trip to Wikipedia:
“Rickrolling is an Internet meme typically involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. The meme is a bait and switch: a person provides...

HBO uses "True" fan comments in marketing
Had a great time at Futures of Entertainment 3 over the weekend (more posts about that soon). At the panel on “Social Media,” Sabrina Caluori (Director of Marketing and Promotions at HBO online) talked about how HBO has used fan comments and feedback in their on-air marketing for True Blood. Calouri talked about what a huge thrill it was for these “True fans” to see their...

Are Vampires the new Superheroes?
Twilight topped the box office this weekend with $70.6 million in ticket sales!! Though there is obviously a long history of Vampires in film & TV, the success of the Twilight book series, the movie, a sequel in the works, and shows like HBO’s True Blood, CBS’s Moonlight makes me think Vampires have finally tipped!
Am guessing that a whole slew of Vampire-themed movies got...

NFL to broadcast in 3D!!!
Wow. Saw this WSJ article on ShellyPalmer’s MediaBytes today.
“Next week, a game between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders will be broadcast live in 3-D to theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Boston. It is a preliminary step on what is likely a long road to any regular 3-D broadcasts of football games.”
They tried 3D in 2004 (picture above), but it really...

NOT a secure wireless network...
Luckily, a man was caught while trying to secretly videotape women in the bathroom at a Long Island Dunkin Donuts — though not in the way you might think. Turns out his wireless video camera was sending images from the hidden camera to his laptop…and to his neighbor’s security monitor (which usually displayed images from the neighbor’s own home security camera).

PistolCam
The New York Post ran a story today about the Pistol Cam - a digital video camera that mounts to the barrel of a gun and records the audio and video of the users’ actions. A former Bronx homicide prosecutor (who helped develop the cam) wants the NYPD to consider mounting the cam onto all of its service weapons. According to the article, “The device is turned on by a magnetic switch...
